Description
If you have purchased Arizona honey before, chances are you’ve at least tried some mesquite honey. Mesquite Honey is a common Arizona Honey. Its an Arizona classic for sure. You might think that this honey has a smokey mesquite flavor, but it does not. When you sample it, you will find that the flavor of the honey doesn’t share a resemblance to the mesquite in barbecue.
Depending on the season, it may be crystallized (having a thick consistency), in the process of crystalizing, or liquid. If you enjoy a grainy texture in your honey, mesquite is a good choice. It has a mild and sweet flavor with a variety of colors and consistencies. This honey varietal is often influenced by the surrounding plants that are blooming nearby when the honey is harvested. Try using this honey when making homemade salad dressings, meat glazes, or on oven roasted veggies.
Several of our beekeepers harvest this honey when the flowers bloom in the spring and summer seasons. Our Mesquite honey will vary based on where the honey is harvested and when it was harvested. We’ve named the honey after the primary plant that the bees are sourcing nectar from when the beekeepers harvest the honey. We will often have mesquite honey available year-round.
